AVON — Chief Jeffrey Bukunt is pleased to welcome Officer Leanndra Denicola to the Avon Police Department.

On June 1, the Avon Police Department, along with other town officials, held a pinning ceremony during a Select Board meeting to formally swear in newly appointed Avon Police Officer Denicola.

Chief Bukunt opened the ceremony by welcoming Officer Denicola and her family to the Town of Avon. Denicola then swore her oath of office administered by Avon Town Clerk Patricia C. Bessette before being pinned by her boyfriend, Dennis Rodgers

“All of our officers, supervisors and dispatchers share a special bond with members of the Avon community,” Chief Bukunt said. “As a department, we are all excited to have Officer Denicola as a new member of the Avon Police Department, and we look forward to working side by side with her”.

Denicola, a Pembroke native, earned her associate’s degree in criminal justice from Quincy College and bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Curry College.

She began her career in law enforcement in East Bridgewater as a public safety dispatcher and special police officer. She then went on to join the Scituate Police Department. While with Scituate Police, Denicola graduated from the Randolph Police Academy in 2023.
