There are many advantages to implementing a Mountain Bike Unit that go beyond the obvious benefits to community-police engagement with residents and our youth. Outreach and interaction in our residential neighborhoods, Goere’s Square, our schools, Industrial Park and other town events can serve to bring our officers and the community closer. Bicycle Units are effective with crowd control, searching for missing persons, at-risk children or wanted individuals and also serve to enhance our ability to patrol “off the road” spaces such as D.W. Field Park, DeMarco Park or other wooded areas. Look to see our Mountain Bike officers on patrol this Spring!
